L'Hydroptère : the floating laboratory

Hydroptère.ch, the ‘little brother' of Hydroptère, the flying boat that broke the speed record on water in 2009, will soon sail on Lake Geneva. Almost 11 metres long, Hydroptère.ch was unveiled recently to the media. Built to act as a floating laboratory, it has an amazing number of sensors and technological innovations. Many EPFL researchers collaborated on the project in the areas of high-tech materials, fluid dynamics and computer simulation. Several journals cover the story.
